China As New Colonial Power in Africa

One fifth of the world's human population lives in China and as their economic status changes, so does their need for a better lifestyle. The Chinese are poised to become the new consumers.

The "China Goes" photography exhibit at the Noorderlicht Photogallery in the Netherlands spotlights 7 photographers who are documenting China's growth from third-world to superpower status.

Of note is the photography series "China's Wild West" by Paolo Woods who documents the country's quest for natural resources and cheap labor in Africa.
