Student Photographer Interview: Brent Malone

We're all students of photography to some extent but there's something about the "eye" of youth that is often so powerfully raw and unfiltered.

There's much potential in these young students and yet without support their dreams of becoming a photographer often go deferred.

With this new interview series I hope to give student photographers a platform for showing their work where they can get constructive feedback from our community of readers and maybe even be exposed to new opportunities.

Brent is the son of a long-time family friend yet the inspiration to put him as the first of Dodge & Burn's student photographer interviews goes way beyond nepotism. Strangely enough we've never met but I feel like I know him through his photographs. I look forward to watching him mature through his future work.

See more photography by Brent Malone, and connect with him on Flickr.

Copyright – Insurance to Protect Your Work

Guest post by photographer Sinden Collier

Copy: An imitation or reproduction of an original; a duplicate.

Right: At its most fundamental, a right is a claim.

So when we merge the two words, "copyright" is the exclusive right to make copies, license, and otherwise exploit a literary, musical, or artistic work, whether printed, audio, etc.

Copyright is a given. The minute you create something original like a photo, it’s ownership. It belongs to you.
